Transitional, Security & Comfort Objects aka Teddy Bears

Teddy Bears (comfort objects, transitional objects & security blankets) provide psychological comfort.

The term transitional object was coined in 1951 by D.W. Winnicott as:

“a designation for any material to which an infant attributes a special value and by means of which the child is able to make the necessary shift from the earliest oral relationship with mother to genuine object-relationships.” Transitional objects are self-chosen — a child’s first “not-me possession”
— in other words, a blanket, teddy bear, dummy, doll.

But you know Comfort Objects aren’t just for kids right?

Comfort objects are essential to our mental health and emotional well being.

Did you know?

Travelodge did a survey and according to them, approximately 35% of British adults sleep with a teddy bear.

You might also find teddy bears in emergency vehicles often used to provide comfort to victims in traumatic situations.

It doesn’t matter how old you are Teddies and Plushes are amazing friends and therapy tools.

Most people probably have a favourite bear and Metal Sonic is mine.
