Introduction
It can be really hard to go back to school after even the shortest of breaks. So the summer break will be even harder. There are so many mixed emotions when returning to school. Some kids may be excited to get back to their peers, while others anxiety may skyrocket. Then on top of this, they could be transitioning to a whole new school.
So here are our 5 tips for going back to school.
Sleep Routine
Try to get back them back into their usual sleep pattern. At least a week before going back to school try to get back into the usual nighttime routine.. Go to bed at your usual school night time and then set an alarm at the time you need to get up for school. This will get both yours and your child’s sleep patterns ready for back to school. Otherwise, that first-day back could be really hard!
Get Prepped
Make sure everything is ready the night before. Pack school bags, make lunches and layout the school uniforms. Get up extra early on that first day as the routine may not go to plan and it is better to have spare time than to be late.
New Year New Start
Remember that this is a new year and a fresh start. If you didn’t have the best year last year now is the time to make that fresh start. Want to get better grades? Why not join some revision clubs or set more time aside for revision. If you want to join clubs or be part fo a team then take that leap and get involved. Make the most from this new start and if you need help or support please speak to a teacher or your parents.
“Life is a book, every day is a new page, every month is a new chapter, every year is a new series”
Talk To Someone
If you are feeling anxious about going back to school it is important to let someone know. You are not alone and sharing your anxieties with someone can really help. Speaking to a friend may help to ease your anxieties as you’ll realise that lots of people feel this way when starting a new school year. If you are worried about bullying please speak to your parents or a teacher that you trust. This way they will be aware of the situation before the school year starts and can help support you.
Be Yourself
Everyone in your school is starting a fresh year and they will all be experiencing some kind of emotions and changes. Remember the most important thing is to be yourself. You’re unique, not one else can be you!
“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
